Data is compiled from the IMDG Code, Amendment 42-24 (Chinese and English editions) with ongoing tracking of IMO corrigenda and amendments. This site is an information tool, not the official text and not a competent authority.

2. Reference Only — Official Rules and Carrier Policy Prevail (Important)

The currently effective IMDG Code text, IMO amendments, carrier DG policies and the actual requirements of the competent authorities at load and discharge ports shall prevail.

• UN number and Proper Shipping Name: confirm against actual physical/chemical properties and test reports;
• Class, packing group and subsidiary risks: especially for mixtures, solutions and batteries;
• Carrier acceptance: DG policies differ; certain UN numbers or classes may be refused or require special approval;
• Packaging certification: as evidenced by the manufacturer and inspection body;
• Customs codes and destination requirements: per customs and national law;
• Segregation and stowage: per the actual stowage plan confirmed by the chief officer / master.
